Smart Toilets

Connected toilets to monitor waste and deliver insights

Concept

Connected toilets that have the ability to locally take waste samples from a variety of individuals and deliver them novel insights into their health.

Longer Description

As real-time monitoring becomes more mainstream (from things like the Apple Watch to Levels) we believe that a large amount of useful data sits within human waste (from urine to stool to blood samples). The burden often for gathering this data and providing insights to the user is often quite high, meaning that “passive” forms of collection could prove to be very valuable.

We believe a team that builds ability to gather samples locally and provide analysis will be able to unlock a variety of insights today and over time on a preventative and proactive health basis.

Other Thoughts

  • We believe the ideal GTM looks closer to Levels or Eight Sleep than other companies that have targeted elderly homes or broader populations just due to cost.
  • It’s likely that the science for this data gets materially better over time, so we are okay with the idea that in the short-term health impacts are moderate versus revolutionary and cost is high.
